The Hague School Side Table In Mahogany, The Netherlands 1930s
-
Description
The Hague School side table in mahogany. The Hague School originated as a variant of the Amsterdam School and is less frivolous and exuberant. That doesn't mean it lacks beauty. It is characterized by more angular shapes and sleeker lines. We see this clearly in the design of this side table. A supposedly minimalist frame with rounded corners that has a plateau at about fifteen centimeters serves as the base. Wooden strips are attached underneath, which recede slightly to create a small relief. Everything is artisanally crafted and meticulously veneered with mahogany. The relatively large rectangular top, albeit with rounded corners, is also veneered with mahogany but is lighter in color. The passage of time has not affected this object but rather created a delicate patina.Apart from a number of scratches and discolorations, this item is in very good condition.
