-
Description
Remarkable 19th century nutwood chest of drawers/ writing commode from the early Biedermeier era in Austria around 1830. Impressing with an absolute outstanding looking grain which runs down from top to bottom without any interruption, this perfectly restored four drawer commode is a true transformer. Three big drawers provide a lot of storage room. The highlight builds the fold-out top drawer which turns this chest into a fully functional writing desk by just opening and unlocking the fold down cherrywood veneered writing surface (pic #4). Four small drawers in the back, all veneered with fine cherry wood and inlayed ebonized "diamonds" elements as well as an additional compartment in the middle make you feel sitting in front of real writing desk. Artfully made brass fittings that look like flowers and a traditional hand-polished shellac finish completes the fantastic look of this extraordinary masterpiece of Biedermeier craftmanship.
