Description
MAX INGRAND ( 1908-1969 ) for FONTANA ARTE, ca. 1960
Widely acknowledged as one of Max Ingrand's masterpieces, demonstrating his groundbreaking innovations in design glass, this table features a richly colored, mirrored, deeply concave glass bowl, surmounted by a flat clear glass top, to create wondrous and ever changing optical effects. Created at the onset of the 1960's, the design anticipates the arrival of Op-Art, and presents a coherent design that absorbs and visually reinterprets its environment in magical reflections.
The glass is set in a round blackened iron base with solid brass accents, the rounded corners echoing the changing reflections in the glass.
