Eames Soft Pad Side Chairs in Silver Edelman Leather by Herman Miller, Pair
-
Description
The great portfolio of Charles & Ray Eames is widely celebrated and serves as a model of inspiration for designers to this day. One of their most recognizable designs is the Aluminum Group line from which this Soft Pad Management Chair was born. It is said that the Soft Pad derivative was a design accident - cushions from the Eames Chaise found themselves draped over an Aluminum Group chair, and the rest is history. Whatever the story may be, the comfort of Charles & Ray’s Soft Pad seating perhaps rivals that of their famed Eames Lounge Chair.
The Soft Pad collection consists of a Lounge Chair, a High Back Executive Chair, and this Low Back Side Chair. The design language is similar to the Eames Aluminum Group suite which sports a single “sling” of material which is tethered to two cast aluminum side rails and in this case, three plush cushions for optimal comfort. This shown “Side Chair” iteration is an armless design with a swivel base. The pair was acquired from Edelman Leather’s facility and features upholstery in their own premium material; a sleek iridescent silver leather which wonderfully complements their polished aluminum frames.
These Eames Soft Pad Side Chairs are the perfect pair for a foyer, guests chairs to neighbor a desk, or for any area in need of subtle seating. These chairs are in very good original condition and show minor wear consistent with age and history. -

Stories exist in many forms, we see them in objects. The aesthetic of those before us is passed down through their surviving creations. These are the objects we search for; to preserve, refine, & continue the story. Object Refinery combines design obsession, fine craftsmanship, and a love for history in our worldwide search for objects. Based in Connecticut, USA; we partner with a network of local artisans to restore and refine our findings before passing them on to the next collector.
