Danish Mid-18th Century Three-Drawer Painted Wood Commode with Serpentine Front
-
Description
A Danish serpentine front three-drawer painted wood commode from the mid 18th century with pull-out shelf. This three-drawer commode was born in the 1760s in Denmark. Featuring a shaped top with beveled edges, a very thin pull-out drawer sits immediately below the top. Three tall drawers make up the rest of the facade. The ensemble is raised on four wraparound bracket feet. The absence of carved décor, accented by the presence of the delicate hardware, is beautifully balanced by the elegant serpentine movement of the facade. The light color palette used on the wood reflects the Scandinavian taste for pastel tones that bring more light into the homes during the long dark winters. With its soft color, sinuous lines and lovely proportions, this Danish 1760s three-drawer chest will be a great complement to any bedroom, living room or hallway.
