French Louis XV Period 18th Century Painted Buffet à Deux-Corps with Scrolls
-
Description
A French Louis XV period painted buffet à deux-corps from the 18th century, with scrolls, fluted accents and molded doors. Born in France during the reign of King Louis XV nicknamed The Beloved, this painted buffet à deux-corps features a cornice overhanging two doors, adorned with molded curving panels. Our eyes however, are immediately drawn to the scrolls that decorate the doors' upper section, and are separated from one another through a fluted and reeded accentuation in the center. These doors open to reveal three inner shelves offering nice storage opportunities, while the lower section showcases three small drawers sitting above two additional doors. Reprising the upper cabinet's décor, the buffet is accentuated on its skirt with a central flower and two stylized Ionic capitals. Painted in a soft grey color, the ensemble is raised on four short feet, the front ones being scrolled. With its nice proportions and charming décor, this French 18th century Louis XV period buffet à deux-corps will bring a touch of elegance to any home, particularly placed in a living room or bedroom.
