Description
Portor marble pedestal in Directoire style.
Portor marble is a rare and noble marble, used since Antiquity for its unique black color veined with a deep yellow. Exploited by King Louis XIV for the decoration of Versailles, it was used for luxury furniture, objets d’art and mantels in the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries during the Art Deco period. Today, its availability is very limited, and Portor remains a prestigious material that continues to find its place in luxurious interiors. -
