Pair of French 1850s Louis XVI Style Walnut Oval Back Upholstered Armchairs

$ 4,950
  • Description
    A pair of French Louis XVI style walnut armchairs from the mid-19th century, with oval backs, carved decor and new upholstery. Created in France during the reign of Emperor Napoleon III, this pair of armchairs presents the stylistic characteristics of the Louis XVI era. Each chair features an oval back topped with ribbon-tied foliage and is accented with a twisted ribbon throughout its structure. Two open arms, partially upholstered on the top, are accented with scrolled knuckles and acanthus leaves on their support. The seat and back have been recently reupholstered with a neutral-colored double welt upholstery. The ensemble is resting on four cylindrical legs, both fluted and reeded and accented with carved rosettes on the knees. With their classical lines and lovely walnut patina, this pair of Louis XVI style armchairs circa 1850 will bring a graceful touch to any living room, bedroom or office. The arms are 25" high and the seat is 19" deep.
