Lucien Henri Weil "WEILUC" Le Frou Frou French Vintage Poster, Wall Art
-
Description
A fine vintage reproduction of Le Frou Frou French poster originally created by WEILUC (Lucien-Henri Weil, 1873-1947). Le "Frou Frou", which in French means frilly or fancy, was made in 1900 and is considered one of the most seductive posters in the world. The poster features a sexy French lady with sly cat eyes comfortably sitting on a love seat showing her white petticoat, sumptuous cushions and cigarettes smokes.
Le Frou-Frou was a light-hearted, satirical publication that ran from 1900 to the beginning of World War I; its pages contained pictures of can-can dancers, cartoons, humorous anecdotes of Parisian life, and more risqué elements like some of the first advertisements for condoms. This is the rare, large format version of the poster. The poster is finely framed in a mahogany wooden frame and matted in black.
