French Provincial Upholstered Side Chairs, A Pair

Description
Made in France in the 20th Century, this pair of side chairs is constructed from lathed wooden elements, and re-upholstered with a velvety green fabric. The black finish, devoid of color, serves to highlight the form of the carving. The shapes resemble balusters, whose name comes from the Italian balaustra meaning a half open pomegranate flower, their elegant curves imparting a romantic sensibility. Subtly worn, the time-touched effect adding a layer of nostalgia to the thought-provoking design.
