This elegant and truly exceptional early Viennese Biedermeier Secretaire was made in Vienna circa 1820-25.
The Secretaire is an example of beautiful, rare and refined design and excellent craftsmanship. Viennese Biedermeier pieces are distinguished by their sophisticated proportions and continue to have a great influence on modern design.
Walnut mirrored gallery with secret compartment and eight small drawers lovely emphasizes writing ebonized surface.
The brass hardware and locks are original.
The secretaire has a beautiful highly figured bookmatched walnut veneer accentuated by a deep amber color and 200 years old patina.
This Viennese Biedermeier piece represents museum quality. These kinds of pieces are very rare and difficult to acquire.
