Description
Renowned modern architect I.M. Pei designed the building, plaza, and interior furnishings of
Dallas’s City Hall. The building opened in 1978 – a concrete and angled structure that remains
an iconic example of brutalism in America.
This bench, constructed of patinated bronze and thick solid oak, was designed by Pei and
installed in the lobby of City Hall as a reflection of the bold horizontal lines of the building’s
heavy brutalist façade. -
