Living in the Art of Creativity

Dutch visual artist Jit Nieuwenhuis (1951) was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands. For many years already she lives and works in Arnhem. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem from 1970-1975.
From 1975, Jit has been working as a professional artist.

Her work spans various styles including figurative, abstract, expressive and dynamic compositions.

She primarily works with oil paint on canvas, water color and mixed media.
Her work is also known for her action paintings, demonstrations and lectures.

Award winning Artist

In 2001 Jit received the “Award for Art of Love” In her work. Jit considers herself as a composer, doing her own choreography.
The art of expression is her passion. She has the ability to express herself in a quick way. Her inner strength is becoming palpable when exposed in her paintings while she listens to music or watches dancers.
Her subjects often include cityscapes, concerts, theater and dance performances as well as sport events.

During concerts she positions herself close to the stage, while creating watercolors combined with mixed media.
For Jit, painting is like exposing herself, losing censorship. In that environment Jit is able to get inspired.

Exhibitions

The work by Jit has been exhibited in China, USA and several countries in Europe, like Italy and Portugal.
