Artist Bio: Jennifer Printz


Jennifer Printz is a distinguished artist and educator based in Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from East Tennessee State University and went on to complete her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at The University of Georgia in 2001, where she had the opportunity to study in Cortona, Italy. Throughout her academic journey, Printz received numerous merit awards and research grants, showcasing her dedication and talent.
Her work has been exhibited extensively across the United States and internationally, with notable recent shows at the Spartanburg Museum of Art, Chroma Gallery, and the International Biennale of Prints in Portugal. Printz has also participated in multiple artist residencies, including the Frans Masereel Centre in Belgium, the St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Malta, and La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
Utilizing both photography and drawing, Jennifer Printz creates poetic works that explore the unseen structures of the universe. By blending these mediums, she captures the intricate details of her observations, resulting in a cohesive and thought-provoking artistic expression. Over the years, she has received several accolades, including a Puffin Foundation Grant in 2004 and a Dendo Fellowship in 2016.
In addition to her artistic practice, Printz is a dedicated educator. Since 2002, she has taught a diverse range of two-dimensional media at both undergraduate and graduate levels, along with public art and professional practices. Currently, she serves as an associate professor and the director of the MFA in Visual Arts program at Florida International University.
Her work has been featured in various publications, including Tricycle and Carolina Review, and she has contributed scholarly articles to platforms such as Peripheral ARTeries and In Her Studio. Printz has presented at conferences such as the SGC International and the College Art Association, and her essay “Print University” was included in the Norton Simon Museum’s exhibition Proof: The Rise of Printmaking in Southern California. An active leader in the arts community, she has held positions such as President of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society and Vice President of External Affairs for SGC International.
Jennifer Printz’s work is part of numerous institutional and private collections across the United States, including the Ben Shahn Center Galleries at William Patterson University and the Esther Allen Greer Museum of Fine Art in Ohio, as well as the permanent collection of the Royal Museum of Fine Art in Antwerp, Belgium.
With a commitment to both her artistic vision and her role as an educator, Printz continues to inspire and influence the art community in Miami and beyond.
