Early 19th century Catalan writing desk or console table. Hand-carved in pine circa 1790-1829 in Spain. Constructed with mortise and tenon joints. Rectangular top raised upon a simple trestle base. Original single drawer suspended under left side of its top. Originally served as a writing table or pay table. Now functions as a console, sofa table or writing desk.

Origin: Spain Period: 19th Century Materials: Hand-carved and hand-painted pine and forged iron. Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Sturdy - all joints tightened. All paint on base original or early. Restoration to losses of original paint on surface of top - a semi-transparent wash was applied to even out the losses in early paint.
