Description
The 19th Century French Louis XV Style Ormolu Mounted Mahogany and Kingwood Parquetry "Régulateur de Parquet" Grandfather Clock by Haentges Freres after the model by Jean-Henri Riesener is a marvel of horological artistry and craftsmanship.
This exquisite clock, made from luxurious materials such as mahogany and kingwood, exemplifies the opulence of the Louis XV style. The use of ormolu mounts enhances its grandeur, showcasing playful putti adorned with garlands of flowers against billowing clouds, providing an enchanting visual narrative.
The clock's tapered trunk, embellished with intricate details like the sun mask, urn, and floral and lyre mounts, reflects the ornate elegance typical of the Louis XV period. Its sides adorned with parquetry panels further showcase the clockmaker's attention to detail and the use of varied materials for aesthetic impact.
The inclusion of paw feet and the integral concave-sided plinth with toupie feet add a touch of sophistication and stability to the clock's design, ensuring its grand presence in any space.
This Haentges Freres clock represents a harmonious blend of artistry, functionality, and luxurious design, reflecting the pinnacle of French horological craftsmanship during the 19th century.
