Leonardo Marmol

American
Leonardo E. Marmol, an accomplished artist and architect, calls Los Angeles home. Graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Philosophy from California Polytechnic State University in 1987, Marmol has garnered prestigious accolades throughout his career. He was honored with elevation to the College of the Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 2007 and induction into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2009.

As a founding partner of Marmol Radziner, Marmol spearheads the comprehensive design-build practice of the forward-thinking architecture firm. Renowned for his expertise in modernism and restoration, Marmol frequently delivers lectures on these subjects and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Palm Springs Art Museum.

In addition to his architectural endeavors, Marmol is a dedicated painter, exploring themes of affect, abstraction, and personal history in his artwork. His debut solo exhibition, "Los Colores de Assimilation," delved into his quest for heritage as an American-born child of Cuban descent. Since then, his artistic journey has evolved to embrace the formal yet gestural expressions synonymous with the Abstract Expressionist movement.

Utilizing oil paint and cold wax medium as his primary tools, Marmol's artistic process is characterized by a meticulous negotiation of materials intertwined with a profound search for meaning. Each brushstroke and layer of paint contributes to the narrative of his fine art practice, inviting viewers into a contemplative exploration of identity and expression.
