One-of-a-kind Vintage Silk Turkish Botanic Beige Carpet

$ 35,000
  • Description
    This antique silk Turkish Sivas Rug features a central medallion design containing and surrounded by floral motifs and abstractions in muted beige, white and the lightest green. Delicate purple accents add intrigue to the floral patterns of the background design. A similarly muted green and beige border with botanical imagery and stylized vase patterns surrounds the antique carpet. The faded patina of the rug is a common staple of Oriental rugs in NYC weaving. The Turkish carpets are distinguished from other Oriental styles by particular characteristics of dyes and colors, designs and textures. Antique Anatolian rugs feature the Turkish, or symmetrical knot and are typically made of wool and cotton. Distinct types of Antique rugs have been woven since the 13th century in workshops, provincial weaving facilities, as well as in villages, tribal settlements or by nomads.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
