Viennese Art Nouveau

$ 60,000
  • Description
    A unique example of vintage Viennese European Deco rug dating back to circa 1900. This is how Art Deco style looks combined with Viennese elegance. Its curvilinear main field carrying a stylized design with botanical motifs is enclosed within a decorative cartouche. The composition is balanced yet vibrant in shades of beige, ivory and pink. The vintage Viennese Art Deco rug was carefully hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with traditional techniques, thanks to which it still looks as if it just came down from the looms. If properly maintained, it will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
