1920s Italian Military Smoking Side Table With Grenades on Legs and Feet
Offered for sale is an early 20th-century Italian military smoking table. These tables were created as a place for officers to gather together to smoke.
The table has slender baluster supports with moveable ebonized grenades that rise from a base with four curved legs. The legs each have ebonized carved wood grenade feet with ebonized spikes that surround the beveled base edges. The tabletop contains five holes on each of the two corners and is edged with capped ebonized doweling. Several of the holes retain metal grommets. The top surface is created with 2 boards. The table is in good vintage condition with wear appropriate to age and use.
