Pair of Wooden Frame Art Deco Armchairs, France ca 1940s

$ 9,405
  • Description
    Art Deco (or streamline moderne, as it’s often referred to), was also known as Art Décoratifs. The design style received its “Art Deco” name after the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, hosted in Paris in 1925. The Art Deco period peaked in popularity around the mid-20th century, spreading across Europe and the Unites States up to the start of World War II.

    Incorporating Art Deco furniture pieces into interiors is a brilliant way of gracefully achieving the essence of luxury and glamour. This timeless pair of armchairs boasts a beautiful frame that evokes the high-end craftsmanship of the movement, and are a true embodiment of the Art Deco style. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, their unique shape is further highlighted by the beautiful material choices and design of the upholstery.

    The chairs feature fully upholstered bodies, outlined by a wooden accent frame, embracing the era’s ruling principle of luxurious comfort without sacrificing style. The upholstery has a tactile dimension that further highlights and adds to the experience of the design. The chairs' wooden frame is a gentle visual contrast to the textile, while also providing a sense of stability and durability, ensuring that this pair will keep standing the test of time.

    Art Deco design often incorporated geometric and angular elements, however, in these armchairs, there is a harmonious blend of curves and straight lines, resulting in a balanced and inviting aesthetic that is sure to be a beautiful addition to any interior.
