A Mid-19th Century Italian Masterpiece of Marquetry and Parquetry Mother-of-Pearl, Bone and Exotic Wood Inlaid Ebony Table, Created by Luigi and Angelo Falcini, the Florentine masters of marquetry furniture from 1820-1860, the design and quality of the bone and mother-of-pearl inlay recalling the Flemish born Leonardo van der Vinne (d. 1713) who had played an active role in the Medici’s Opificio delle Pietre Dure, the front and back apron centered by a heraldic coat of arms of a crown, crossed keys and three deer, and the whole depicting parrots and other birds surrounded by foliate sprays, bouquets and floral motifs, all on hidden brass casters, similar Falcini works are presently in the collections of Pitti Palace, Florence, the National Gallery of Ottawa, and the Institute of Fine Arts in Detroit
