Capturing the eyes of an animal is always powerful but especially so with Highland cows. It is almost as if you’ve uncovered a secret or discovered a hidden gem. And a gem she was. Rose was by far the friendliest Highland and always seemed eager to meet my eye with her gentle gaze—or at least try to from behind those bangs. Despite Highland eyes being hard to find, those long locks provide not only warmth in harsh winters but also protection against other elements like wind and rain. -
