A set of twelve "Gobbetta" model chairs, made of black-stained beechwood with woven straw seats, crafted by Chiavari artisans, and produced by Enrico Delmonte in the 1950s.

The Chiavari chairmaking tradition, with its centuries-old history, has always embraced a wide variety of models, adapting to tastes, fashions, and international trends thanks to the skill and ingenuity of local craftsmen. This chair has embodied various stylistic and cultural movements.

The model presented here, known as "Gobbetta," derives its name from the distinctive ball-shaped feet. Produced since the late 1940s, it has always been a versatile model, suitable for various living and furnishing contexts.

Esteemed by prominent architects, it has been featured in periodicals such as Domus and Altamira, often complementing the designs of Marco Zanuso, Gio Ponti, Ignazio Gardella, and many others. This model gained international recognition through Azucena's distribution.

The set of twelve chairs presented has been fully restored, including the beechwood structure and the color. A matte black finish was chosen, which complements the chair's clean, linear design. The seat is handwoven from marsh grass. In this finish, combining the starkness of black with the lightness of straw, the set is well-suited for both domestic environments, around a large dining table, and public spaces like bars and restaurants, where the artisanal quality and design appeal are highly valued.

The craftsmanship of these chairs is tied to the historic Delmonte brand, a factory that is no longer in operation but holds an important place in the history of the Chiavari Light Chair for the quality of its products and the elegance of its designs.
