Austrian, Early 20th Century
Height 41cm, width 29cm, depth 16cm
This charming cold-painted bronze lamp depicts a busy scene of an open plan coffee shop within an Islamic style building, which features a dome ceiling, crescent moon finials and Moorish archways. Behind these columned archways, several figures are depicted drinking coffee, smoking huqqa pipes and are surrounded by various pots, rugs and an octagonal table.
Crafted in exceptional detail with a rich colour palette, this lamp is characteristic of the works of Anton Chotka, a renowned producer of cold-painted bronze lamps and figurines in 19th and early 20th century Vienna.
The lamp is signed ‘Chotka’ to the base.
