The chaise lounge is characterized by a wooden frame with a typically classical line: Gibbins has taken the classicism of Greek forms in his designs and transformed them into timeless, refined pieces typical of the classical style. Their elegance conveys warmth and importance.

Terence Harold Robsjohn-Gibbings is a British-born architect, decorator, furniture designer, taste-maker and thinker whose innovative ideas in the field of interior design during the post-war period had a formative impact on American taste in interiors. In the emergence of American middle-class style during the formative years of modernism, the architect studied played a significant role in steering popular taste away from Art Moderne and towards an authentic American modernism shared with Paul McCobb, Estelle & Levine Laverne and Edward Wormley.
