Early 19th C Provincial Georgian Milking Stool England Circa 1820

Description
Authentic and completely original early 19th century elm wood milking stool with ash wood legs; hand carved and maintaining the original surface with a lovely patina and finish; no restorations or repairs of any kind. Single elm plank top with straight front and curviinear back; suppoirted by three hand carved ash wood legs 1 3/8" diameter tapering to 1 1/8" diameter to wedge into hand carved holes on the top. The stool was used to sit on while milking cows; the three legs giving more stability than four legs on what was probably an uneven floor, most often found in a cowshed or in the field, where they were taken and utilized along with a milk bucket to perform the morning chore of milking a cow.
Decorators often use today to place by the hearth to support a potted plant or for a child to sit on, or, to liven up a dead corner as a stand alone Georgian antique.
