The work is typical of the style of LE MAYEUR DE MERPRES who represented many scenes of everyday life in Bali in the 30s-40s.

The work is signed lower left, good condition.

Jean LE MAYEUR DE MERPRES (1880-1958) is a Belgian artist, having traveled widely around the world (Africa, Europe, Asia), to finally settle in Bali; place where he meets his muse and future wife: Ni Pollok. His house in Sanur (Bali), has now become a museum dedicated to him.
