-
Description
A splendid 18th c. Italian architectural model featuring a gessoed and gilt hemispherical dome on a circular entablature supported by a gessoed colonnaded facade with relief carved gilt acanthus swags and an arched door on a stepped plinth, with gilt moldings and accents. Charming and impressively scaled. Perhaps originally an architectural model, a reliquary or a jewel casket. Now a magnificent room or hall statement piece. Some losses to gesso and gilding befitting its age. Italian, mid-18th century.
