Set of four wall sconces in brushed brass and frosted glass, model "1936/1 A," produced by FontanaArte, designed by Max Ingrand in the 1960s. Sold individually.
Max Ingrand masterfully explores the aesthetic potential of brushed brass and frosted glass in this set of wall sconces designed for FontanaArte. The brass, with its precious reflections, serves as more than just a technical support for the glass diffuser; it is almost sculptural. The concave and convex lines seem to embrace the opaline glass diffuser with both lightness and decisiveness. The result is a highly distinctive lamp that, when mounted on the wall, transcends its function as a lighting fixture to become an art object.
Ingrand's work often centers around glass, a material that became his hallmark. During his decade at FontanaArte, the Italian manufacturer founded by Gio Ponti, Ingrand introduced his personal vision, significantly influencing 20th-century taste.
These wall lights are completely original from the period and are in excellent vintage condition with a beautiful patina on the brass. The glass pieces are free of any breaks or notable defects.
