Amazing Italian corner Bookcase with Desk, produced in the 1950s and very well designed, probably by one of the most important Italian designers of the period such as Osvaldo Borsani, Vittorio Dassi or Paolo Buffa.
It is a stylish Bookcase designed as a single piece, all finished with superb slatted details, and easily adaptable to any corner wall, in home as well as office.
Its structure is completely self-supporting and very solid, also very easy to assemble.
It is a very well-equipped and functional wall unit, offering plenty of storage space.
There are many shelves, such as open areas for displaying books or objects, and several cabinets with internal shelves on the underside, all of which can be locked.
In addition, there are two adjacent compartments located in the middle of the left side.
The first has a door decorated externally with an original framed painting protected by glass (signed: Eugenio Rossi, 1956), which conceals a bar cabinet with a shelf, internally finished on all sides with mirrors.
While, the second has two sliding glass doors with internal shelves.
The main element of the uniqueness of this Bookcase is its Writing Desk, beautifully finished around the perimeter with a detailed slatted decoration, so-called 'grissinatura', as well as having an elegant black glass top and three lockable drawers on the lower right hand side.
Overall, its conditions of the period are to be considered very good as the images show, with slight signs of wear consistent with its age and delicate use. It has no previous restoration and/or structural damages.
It’s truly a masterpiece of mid-century Italian design, finished with superb slatted details as the 'grissinatura' is called, even more impactful when seen first hand with one's own eyes.
