Description
ORWELL, George.
Nineteen Eighty-Four.
A Novel.
Stock Code 113156
London, Secker & Warburg, 1949
Current price$16,173.00
Copies of the first impression were issued either in green or dark red dustjackets. To judge from surviving examples, this was done in proportions of about two green to one red, but there is no priority between them. A pleasing copy of one of the century's greatest novels.
First edition, first impression; 8vo; faint spotting to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's green cloth, red lettering to spine, spine partially faded through jacket as often, with the unclipped green dustjacket, minimally nicked with some all too typical rubbing at folds and some mild loss at the ends of the spine panel, just touching lettering at foot, slight creasing to top edge of upper panel, but in all a very decent copy. -
