Designer trio 'Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi' came together in the early 1960s. Design
Designed in 1967, the Gomma chair was made from polyurethane foam, a material that was relatively new to furniture design at the time. The use of polyurethane foam allowed for a sculptural, organic form that was both comfortable and visually striking. The name "Gomma," which means "rubber" in Italian, reflects the chair's soft, pliable nature.

The Gomma chair was part of a broader exploration by De Pas, D'Urbino e Lomazzi of new materials and production techniques that could break away from the rigid, structured designs of traditional furniture. Condition
The chair is in very good condition, however the original fabric has two small ‘holes’ in there. Upon request, this chair can be re-upholstered.

Due to the fact that this is signed with ‘Emmebonancina’ we know this chair is made between 1967 and 1973, when they changed the name to the more simple ‘Bonancina’
