Vintage Brass Revolutionary War Soldiers Bookends by S.C.C., 1974

$ 375
  • Description
    Offered is a set of vintage brass Revolutionary War soldiers bookends. Each bookend depicts a fife player, a drummer, and a flag bearer, marching in step together across a grassy field. The flag bearer hoists a large 13-star medallion flag into the air. These patriotic bookends were made in 1974 by the manufacturer S.C.C.

    During the American Revolution, the Continental Army used fifes and drums for communication and regimentation. Music, standardized by the drillmaster, served as a signal in battle. The higher pitch of the fife and the booming beat and tap of the drums would pierce through the chaos and sounds of battle, signaling commanders’ orders across long distances. In the camp, the fife and drum also signaled to soldiers when to wake up, collect provisions, assemble, march, and more.

    CONDITION:

    Overall very good condition. No significant wear, besides a few minor scratches and scuffs as to be expected with age and use. Each bookend has a rounded rectangular base and flat back. Dimensions: 6 3/4" H x 5 5/8" W x 2 1/2" D (each).

    Accompanied by our company's letter of authenticity.
