Rick Lewis draws inspiration from a diverse range of influences, including renowned artists such as Alberto Burri, Forrest Bess, Joan Miró, Paul Klee, and Antoni Tàpies, as well as Eastern calligraphy and philosophy. His artistic achievements have earned him the Carol Cook Memorial Foundation Arts Award for excellence in painting, along with several prestigious artist residency awards, including the Millay Colony Residency in Austerlitz, NY, and the Bali Purnati Center for the Arts in Indonesia. Additionally, he has been honored with two residencies at the Edward F. Albee Foundation in Montauk, NY.
Lewis's work has been exhibited across various notable locations, including New York, Texas, Philadelphia, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. His pieces are part of numerous public and private collections worldwide.
Exhibitions featuring Rick Lewis's work include the Steven Amedee Gallery, Albright-Knox Museum, and Kouros Gallery in New York, as well as the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (MAC), Kristy Stubbs Gallery, and Hooks-Epstein Galleries in Texas. His art has also been showcased at Mount Airy Contemporary in Philadelphia, Sin Sin Fine Art, and Galerie Martini in Hong Kong, along with participation in prestigious events like ART BASEL Hong Kong.
Currently, Rick Lewis resides and works in Brooklyn, New York, continuing to create art that reflects his rich influences and unique perspective.
