Iconic writing table designed in the 1940s by Gio Ponti for Schirolli to furnish BNL (Banca Nazionale del Lavoro) offices across Italy.
This early 1950s model was acquired directly from the Rome Bissolati BNL headquarters (Ponti also used this design for the University of Padua).
Composed of a walnut, beech, and fruitwood frame with laminate top, dual dovetailed drawers, brass pulls/sabots, and single lock, all further supported by a lower stretcher.
Beautifully aged, original condition with warm patina and natural wear from use (surface and frame scuffs / one small spot of laminate loss along with tarnish to the unpolished brass, as shown).
We have a total of four of these desks, all obtained from Rome Bissolai BNL. Listing is for the single desk pictured.
Retains the BNL inventory label, as shown.
