Set of two (small and large) Eva Zeisel gunmetal gray glazed ceramic earthenware "Town and Country" pitchers for Red Wing Pottery (ca. 1947, Minnesota, USA).
"Town and Country," perhaps Zeisel's most recognizable and iconic design, was conceived in response to a request for a design that embodied Greenwich Village. Specifically, Red Wing Pottery was seeking something bohemian that would attract a younger, urban consumer in post-World War II America.
This organic form characterized by undulating curves is modern and timeless; it's appeal with never expire.
Both pitchers are in very good, original condition with splotches within the glaze itself along with natural patina/light wear. There are no chips/cracks.
Smaller pitcher: H: 7" x Diameter: 5"
