Ruggero Vanni

Italian
Ruggero Vanni (b. 1958) is an Italian-American abstract painter whose artistic journey began in Paris and flourished in Rome, where he attended the Istituto d’Arte. In 1979, he was awarded a scholarship to study at The Cooper Union School of Art in New York, where he has made his mark ever since. Vanni held his first solo exhibition at Il Ponte Gallery in Rome in 1986 and has been exhibiting his work nationally and internationally for over four decades.

Inspired by the vibrant energy of Manhattan since his arrival in the late 1970s, Vanni's art reflects the dynamic spirit of Abstract Expressionism. He finds a unique connection between this movement and his fascination with late Renaissance Venetian painting.

During the summer months, Vanni draws inspiration from the stunning seascape of Kythira, a Greek island where he maintains a studio. Here, he observes the ever-changing natural forces, seeking to identify the forms, orders, and patterns that inform his artistic creations.

His work is included in several prestigious public collections, such as the Pinacoteca of Aosta in Italy, the Irving Cancer Center at Columbia University in New York, the Yale Eye Center at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and Camba Housing Ventures in Brooklyn, New York.
