Cate Blanchett Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR addressing European Parliament
-
Description
"Cate Blanchett, Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR addressing the European Parliament" is a wonderful Neo-Expressionist interpretation of the event by master artist Sax Berlin. This painting pays tribute to Cate Blanchett's work as a Goodwill Ambassador and in his own words he has "depicted the inner heart and her tongue to be combined and the same". Berlin cares passionately about the fate of man and the issues which are affecting the planet, particularly war and the displacement of people and is an Emissary of Peace wherever he travels. Throughout the summer he has been creating stunning sand drawings to bring this concern to a wider audience. These temporary drawings, at the mercy of the great Atlantic tides, have attracted many visitors to the beaches in Cornwall where they have brought messages of hope and awareness and attracted a host of comments. Cate Blanchett has a house near to one of the beaches where the sand drawings were made and as Berlin was walking home after finishing up a piece he was stopped by the Goodwill Ambassador who thanked him for creating the sand art on the beach. The brief interchange they had was the inspiration for this stunning piece of Neo-Expressionist art.
