Description
This Chinese antique quatrefoil cinnabar box from the 18th to 19th century is a stunning example of traditional craftsmanship. The box features a unique quatrefoil shape, its deep red cinnabar lacquer surface intricately carved with a dynamic warrior motif.
The lid of the box showcases a central scene depicting warriors in a detailed landscape, capturing a moment of historical or mythological significance. The surrounding areas are adorned with intricate patterns of foliage and scrollwork, enhancing the visual depth and texture.
The sides of the box continue the elaborate carvings, with motifs that complement the central warrior theme. Each element is meticulously crafted, demonstrating the high level of skill and artistry characteristic of this period.
Inside, the box is lined with a contrasting black lacquer, highlighting the vibrant red exterior. The use of multiple layers of resin to create the cinnabar lacquer gives the box its distinctive color and durability.
