Persian walnut with free edges and fissures with one East Indian rosewood butterfly joint, American black walnut.
This Minguren II Coffee Table reflects George Nakashima’s emphatic belief that the tree and its wood, in this case, Persian Walnut and American Black Walnut, commanded the kind of work it was intended to transfigure into. Nakashima ennobled what others might see as blemishes as he deliberately selected boards with knots and burls and cracks, which he would complement and secure with butterfly joints.
The angular and severe lines of the coffee table are complimented with organic curves that come together to create a remarkably captivating-shaped coffee table.
