Description
Probably Pennsylvania, circa 1830-1840
White pine and basswood, hand blocked wallpaper, cardboard, original brass hinges and knobs,
With its original wallpaper covering, this may be a unique example of a miniature blanket chest. It is neatly constructed from white pine basswood, the interior with a tiny till box. The drawer fronts are made of cardboard as are the moldings around the lid. It retains the original brass hinges and knobs. The top, sides and front covered in colorful block printed floral wallpaper. The interior and drawers covered in cream colored paper. The underside with early newspaper. In an extraordinary state of preservation, especially considering the delicacy of the paper covering and cardboard substrate. -
