Artist Bio: Velka Edge-Olok
Velka Edge-Olok is a quintessential New York artist whose profound imagination explores the complexities of the human experience. Her work takes viewers on a journey through multiple layers of reality, revealing the mysterious and magical facets of existence.
Born into a shamanic heritage, Velka grew up in New York City, creating art from a young age and engaging with contemporary artists and thinkers in vibrant neighborhoods like SoHo, Williamsburg, and Bushwick, as well as on the West Coast, in Europe, and Asia.
Her refined, dreamlike paintings encapsulate deep narratives, drawing from Velka’s own essence and a transformative exploration of the subconscious. Her art beautifully balances masculine and feminine energies, expressing the inner feelings and contrasting forces that reside within us all.
Velka’s artistic journey is centered on self-discovery and collective evolution, inviting viewers to explore their connections with a world full of wonder.
One of her notable achievements includes the painting “Uniessence and the Music of the Spheres,” which was selected by JAXA (the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and etched onto the Sprite Satellite, launched in 2008 as the first art museum in space. Additionally, her artwork “Infinite Fields of Energy” graced the cover of Professor Charlie Smith’s book Navigating from the Future.
Velka has been a guest speaker at the ISDC/NASA Space Conference in Washington, DC (2008), Orlando (2009), and San Diego (2013), and her work has been showcased in Hong Kong during the UltraFutureExpo series. Currently, she teaches art at Taksha University in Hampton, VA, with her artwork held in private collections across the USA.
