Description
19th century elephant painting by unknown Balinese artist. A vibrant figural painting with a white elephant in black and matted frame. Color on cloth with gilt highlights. The allegorical scene, the large white elephant in gilt trappings with a smiling attendant kneeling upon its haunches and its head surmounted by the beneficent ceremonial figure issuing water to outstretched arms of a standing throng. Rendered in a pastoral setting with distant mist shadowed mountains.

Restored with new cloth matte, minor wear on wooden frame, wear to original painted surface. Refinishing on the piece.
