French 19th Century Beech Artisan Workbench
-
Description
Unique carpenter’s bench from France, dating to the late 19th century, made of beech wood and iron. Protruding from the impressive, 2 ½” thick solid plank top, is a heavy iron rod which functions as a vise grip: the hook rests on the table surface to keep the artisan’s work firmly in place, balanced by the heft of the long iron rod. Underneath is a shelf with low walls to offer display or storage area. Natural patina from age and type of use is endlessly fascinating, this table will be a conversation piece in any room. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this antique is ready for your immediate use. Please view all the detailed images.
