Vintage Eero Saarinen 54" Round Tulip, model 174W, dining table was made for distribution by Knoll and was a huge success. A rare walnut top, beautiful with rich warm and grain. The edge is beveled on the underside, giving it a modern and sleek look. The top and its base are separated by an enameled piece of wood, which serves as a center for the top and connects it to the base seamlessly. Base is heavy solid cast iron, and this Park Avenue label dates this table to pre-1969. Today's Knoll Tulip tables are made of plastic coated light weight aluminum.

Condition: Complete professional restoration. Includes chemical stripping of top. Hand-sanding in direction of grain. Light walnut tone stain. Professionally sprayed satin laquer top coat - 3 layers. Hand-burnished with fine steel wool and wax. Base was sanded as needed. Ivory tone enamel, professionally applied and burnished by hand. New felt feet installed.
