David Hinchliffe is a celebrated artist with a remarkable painting career that spans over 50 years. Known for his dynamic contributions to contemporary impressionism, he has held more than 100 solo exhibitions worldwide, showcasing his paintings, sculptures, and photographs. Represented by 13 esteemed galleries in major cities such as London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, and Perth, David’s work continues to reach a global audience.
Focusing primarily on streetscapes, landscapes, and figurative pieces, David employs a unique technique of painting from dark to light, utilizing negative space to create captivating figures. After a long tenure working with oils, he transitioned to acrylics six years ago, further evolving his artistic approach.
As a dedicated educator, David shares his expertise through a comprehensive art teaching program that includes both online and in-person workshops via Mastrius. He firmly believes that anyone can learn to paint with the right attitude and persistence, stating, “Painting is magic. All magic is more or less trickery, and I believe anyone can learn it.”
Beginning his artistic journey at the age of 12, David has won numerous prestigious awards, including the Sunday Mail Art Prize and the Atlantic City Sculpture Award.
