Chrysler Building at Sunset - New York Skyline in Silhouette with Orange Sky
-
Description
"The Chrysler Building at Sunset" photograph showcases the mid-town skyline's clean and sharp silhouette. To the extreme left is the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Building is counterbalancing it on the far right. There are no other major buildings in between since the image was shot in 1982, and today's large buildings are not present. From his shooting position across the river in Long Island City, Photographer Mitchell Funk used smokestacks to fill in the gap. This is unquestionably a powerful and original image and is generations ahead of its time.
