David Lloyd Glover

Canadian, 1949
David Lloyd Glover has been a prominent figure in the fine art world since 1968. He began his career as a full-time editorial illustrator and political cartoonist for a major daily newspaper, a role he held until 1974. Following this, he became a principal at a leading media advertising agency, where he produced numerous award-winning campaigns as both an illustrator and graphic designer.
In 1986, after stepping back from the advertising and design sectors, Glover resumed his fine art practice. A significant milestone in his career was his commission to create a series of historical paintings for the Royal British Columbia Museum in celebration of its centenary. Today, twenty-seven of these original works are part of the museum’s permanent collection. His art gained representation in notable galleries across Vancouver and Los Angeles, leading to widespread acclaim and collection in those cities. Additionally, his work has been published as high-quality graphic silkscreen prints in Mexico City, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.
From 1994 to 2006, Glover's original pieces were exclusively represented by the largest art gallery in Tokyo, making him one of the top-selling fine artists in Japan. His artwork continues to attract buyers in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Canada.
Glover has established strong partnerships with art reproduction companies, licensing his images for sale through over twenty-eight well-known retailers, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, and Walmart. His work is also licensed by Japanese corporations for fine art prints given to their most valued clients.
An accomplished author, Glover has published six instructional art books with Walter Foster Books, guiding artists and students on how to enhance their skills. Recently, his renowned portrait of jazz legend Bill Evans was acquired by the music faculty at Southeastern Louisiana University, where it honors one of their most celebrated alumni.
Glover was also commissioned by the Newport Car Museum to create original paintings for their impressive collection of rare automobiles, many of which have been reproduced as large-scale murals in their exhibition spaces.
His contemporary portraits of music icons have garnered attention from both fans and celebrities, with notable collectors including music producer David Foster, legend Glen Campbell, comedian Brad Garrett, jazz musician Herbie Hancock, and actor Jamie Foxx, among others in the entertainment industry.
