-
Description
A grand scale vivid blue salt glazed mid century jug by German ceramicist, Wim Mühlendyck. This original piece is signed with his signature WIM in the form of a windmill and his last name text, and features a large rooster motif on both front and back.
In 1931 Mühlendyck founded his own workshop in Höhr-Grenzhausen, where he built a pottery workshop in 1936. Wim Mühlendyck is considered to be the innovator of Westerwald ceramics. After moving from Cologne to the Westerwald, he familiarized himself with ceramics and delved into the "Knibis" technique of decorating his vessels with incised lines and applied relief. His work was shown during his lifetime in the Paris World Exhibition, the Berlin Crafts Exhibition, and the Milan Triennale, where he received multiple medals and awards for his unique and decorative pieces. -
